Metro Line 2 east under the river to Lujiazui (~15 min from People's Square). World's second-tallest building; the 118F observatory is the headline view. Done in daytime here — clear aerial views of the city layout — because you get the sunset/night version from the water on tonight's cruise. SOURCESynthesis · Co-located with the tower — moved from Friday to Day 1 to consolidate the Lujiazui block
Right at the foot of the tower. The circular sky-walk wraps the three supertalls (Jin Mao, SWFC, Shanghai Tower) — the canonical street-level view, free, ~45 min. Then Metro Line 2 one stop back across the river (Lujiazui → East Nanjing Rd) and walk south to Shiliupu Wharf, or grab a Didi (~15 min).
SOURCEYour booking · Combo ticket · confirm the exact boarding time on your voucher (plan assumes ~18:30 sunset sailing)
Board ~18:00 for a sunset sailing. 50-min loop along the Bund and Lujiazui — start in daylight, hit sunset (~18:55) mid-cruise, watch the facade lighting and towers ignite, end in twilight. After the tower's daytime aerial view, this gives you the water-level sunset/night view — complementary, not redundant.
Dock: Shiliupu Wharf 十六铺码头 · 481 Zhongshan East 2nd Rd, Huangpu · 中山东二路481号 · ~10-min walk south from your hotel
Check your voucher's actual departure time — if it's a fixed later slot (e.g. 19:30/20:00) it collides with the 20:00 Xibo dinner and we'll re-time.

SOURCELogistics · Verified May 2026 · Shanghai Railway Station chosen over Hongqiao for proximity to hotel
Station choice: use Shanghai Railway Station (上海站), not Hongqiao. It's ~3.5 km north of your hotel (vs Hongqiao at ~18 km west), still has ~120 trains/day to Suzhou. Both G and D trains run from here; G is faster and slightly pricier.

Whitewashed walls, dark slate roofs, geometric water gardens. The architecture is the star artifact; the 15,000-piece Song/Ming collection is the bonus. Reordered to slot here while you're already on the block — saves crossing town twice.
Hours: 09:00 – 17:00, Tue–Sun (last entry 16:00). Closed Mondays — Tue 9 Jun is fine.
Admission: free, but reservation mandatory for foreigners. Walk-ups turned away.

Different character from HA Garden: intimate scale, more "garden as composition" than "garden as estate."
Hours: 07:30 – 17:30 (day visit). Some evenings have separate night-garden performances — different ticket; check on the day.

Cobbled canal-side street lined with shops, restaurants, and bars — sister street to Pingjiang Rd but livelier, especially as evening starts. This is the right time and place for dinner.
Hours: open street, restaurants typically 17:00 – 22:00
Atmosphere: arrives just before sunset (~19:00) and watches the lanterns come on along the canal — the headline moment of the day
Eat: Suzhou regional — pan-fried dumplings, fish-flavoured pork, sweet-and-sour preparations, freshwater shrimp. The Chaozhou hotpot fallback we had previously is no longer needed; you'll be full and tired by the time you're back in Shanghai.

📱 Apps, payments & connectivity
Link card to Alipay & WeChat Pay. Add Visa/Mastercard to Alipay (TourCard) and WeChat Pay. Run a small test transaction in Singapore before flying so your bank doesn't block it on arrival.
Set Alipay UI language to English in settings — defaults to Chinese for many panels even with English region.
Activate metro QR codes per city. In Alipay, search 出行 (Transport) or 地铁 (Metro). Activate Shanghai metro and Suzhou metro separately — they're independent activations.
eSIM with SG gateway. Roaming eSIM (e.g. Airalo, Nomad) routes via SG to bypass the Great Firewall — gives you native access to Google, WhatsApp, etc.
Install Metro Man (or 上海地铁 official app) for live exit numbers — these renumber periodically.
Sync AMap favourites. Make sure 高德地图 is installed and logged in; sync your SHANGHAI list. Download offline maps for Shanghai + Suzhou — useful when network is patchy in gardens or Zhujiajiao.
Hotel address screenshot for taxi drivers / phone-loss fallback: 上海古象杉丽酒店 · 黄浦区汉口路558号. Save to phone Photos.
🧳 Final decisions & verifications
Passport validity check. Singapore-China mutual visa-free covers 30 days. Passport must have ≥ 6 months validity past Fri 13 Jun (your return date).
Carry physical passport in Suzhou. Garden gate, museum entry, and HSR boarding all scan it. Phone photos won't suffice.
Cash backup: ¥200–500 in small bills. Mainland is effectively cashless, but foreign-card Alipay/WeChat Pay occasionally glitches. Zhujiajiao boat operators and smaller vendors may prefer cash.
Zhujiajiao transit decision (Day 4). Choose: Metro Line 17 (~75–90 min, ¥12), Didi (~¥200, 1h), or pre-booked private charter via Klook/Trip.com.
Verify Unitree store hours at Jiuguang Dept Store (West Nanjing Rd) — first Asia store opened late May 2026, hours may shift in early weeks.
