Clear immigration, biometrics, customs. Singapore passport is visa-free for 30 days (mutual agreement since Feb 2024). Head to the Maglev terminal inside the airport — follow the signs in English.

Show same-day boarding pass at the Maglev counter for the discounted economy fare. 8-minute Maglev run, then ~25 min on Line 2. Take Exit 14 for Hankou Rd verify exit no. and walk ~400 m east to the hotel.

Check-in is 14:00 but the desk will hold luggage. Take 60–90 minutes — a nap or a slow breakfast at a nearby café (try Manner Coffee or Seesaw on Nanjing Rd). You'll need the reserve.

Walk east on Hankou Rd, hit the promenade, head north along the river to the steel-truss Waibaidu Bridge (1907). Crowds peak after 14:00 — go now. Start a touch earlier (10:30) to bank time for the tower this afternoon.

Metro Line 2 east under the river to Lujiazui (~15 min from People's Square). World's second-tallest building; the 118F observatory is the headline view. Done in daytime here — clear aerial views of the city layout — because you get the sunset/night version from the water on tonight's cruise. Bring your combo voucher; the tower portion should admit on Jun 8.

Right at the foot of the tower. The circular sky-walk wraps the three supertalls (Jin Mao, SWFC, Shanghai Tower) — the canonical street-level view, free, ~45 min. Then Metro Line 2 one stop back across the river (Lujiazui → East Nanjing Rd) and walk south to Shiliupu Wharf, or grab a Didi (~15 min).

Board ~18:00 for a sunset sailing. 50-min loop along the Bund and Lujiazui — start in daylight, hit sunset (~18:55) mid-cruise, watch the facade lighting and towers ignite, end in twilight. After the tower's daytime aerial view, this gives you the water-level sunset/night view — complementary, not redundant.

After the cruise ends ~19:20, walk back to the hotel area, freshen up briefly, then Didi to Xibo (~20 min in evening traffic). Refined modern Xinjiang, in business since 2009. Order: slow-braised lamb shoulder, hand-pulled laghman noodles, pumpkin steamed dumplings, naan from the stone oven. The flagship Changshu Rd terrace is the original and most atmospheric of five branches.

Station choice: use Shanghai Railway Station (上海站), not Hongqiao. It's ~3.5 km north of your hotel (vs Hongqiao at ~18 km west), still has ~120 trains/day to Suzhou. Both G and D trains run from here; G is faster and slightly pricier.

Booking guidance: book outbound 08:00–08:30 from "Shanghai" (上海) — not "Shanghai Hongqiao" (上海虹桥). Return: 20:20 from Suzhou Railway Station. Via Trip.com Trains (passport entry) or 12306. Booking window already open.

Largest of the Suzhou classical gardens (52,000 m²) — Ming-era water-garden composition built 1509. Three sections: eastern grasses + bamboo, central pavilions over the main pond (the iconic shot), western Rainbow Bridge + duck pool. 09:30 entry beats the tour-bus wave.

• Hours: 07:30 – 17:30 (Mar–Nov). Last entry 17:00.
• Ticket: ¥70-90. Pre-register passport via the ticketing portal — entry slots are time-stamped.

Whitewashed walls, dark slate roofs, geometric water gardens. The architecture is the star artifact; the 15,000-piece Song/Ming collection is the bonus. Reordered to slot here while you're already on the block — saves crossing town twice.

• Hours: 09:00 – 17:00, Tue–Sun (last entry 16:00). Closed Mondays — Tue 9 Jun is fine.
• Admission: free, but reservation mandatory for foreigners. Walk-ups turned away.
• Booking window: opens 7 days ahead at 08:00 CST via the official 苏州博物馆 WeChat mini-program. For Tue 9 Jun entry, book at 08:00 SGT on Tue 2 Jun — slots sell out in minutes.

Walk east from the museum to Pingjiang Rd, then south along the canal. Stone bridges, brick alleyways, traditional houses backing onto water.

• Canal boat ride: ~30 min, ¥80-120 per boat (negotiate). Best photos from water level. Multiple boarding points along the canal.
• Lunch: any canal-side restaurant — order 松鼠桂鱼 (sweet-and-sour squirrel mandarin fish), the regional signature. ¥80-150 per dish.

Didi ~10 min south of Pingjiang Rd (¥15). Often cited as the most architecturally refined of the Suzhou gardens — built on a tighter footprint with carefully balanced ponds, halls, and pavilions reflected in the water. UNESCO World Heritage. Different character from HA Garden: intimate scale, more "garden as composition" than "garden as estate."

Didi from Master of the Nets to Shantang area (~15 min), or take a rickshaw as Treksplorer suggests for the classic mode of transport. Cobbled canal-side street lined with shops, restaurants, and bars — sister street to Pingjiang Rd but livelier, especially as evening starts. This is the right time and place for dinner.

• Atmosphere: arrives just before sunset (~19:00) and watches the lanterns come on along the canal — the headline moment of the day
• Eat: Suzhou regional — pan-fried dumplings, fish-flavoured pork, sweet-and-sour preparations, freshwater shrimp. The Chaozhou hotpot fallback we had previously is no longer needed; you'll be full and tired by the time you're back in Shanghai.

Shikumen courtyards, neighbourhood wet markets, scallion-pancake stalls. Lost Plate is the recommended operator — 5★ on TripAdvisor across 600+ reviews, English guides, max 12 pax. Their Breakfast Tour ($75, ~3.5h) is the natural morning fit; their Eat Like a Local evening tour (also $75) is an alternative — see Day 2 evening note below.

Walk Huaihai Middle Rd, then head to Matcha Wang (抹茶王) on the L1 floor of HAI550 mall — small storefront right at the front of the building. Order the Vanilla Bean Matcha Latte (also marketed as the "Little Sheep Latte" / "Lily Lamb Matcha Latte" / 小绵羊抹茶), ¥39. Hand-piped sheep foam art on a non-bitter matcha base; 40+ min queue is typical, mostly tourists.

Pick one. Tianzifang = dense brick-lane art studios, more tourist. Xintiandi = polished restored Shikumen blocks, more brand retail. Tianzifang for atmosphere, Xintiandi for a sit-down drink.

Tiny, classic Benbang (Shanghainese home-style) — open since 1990, considered the cornerstone of the city's local cuisine and the original that spawned the New Jesse (Xin Jishi) chain. Famous for: red-braised pork belly (hongshao rou), scallion-oil cod head, stir-fried river shrimp, dates stuffed with glutinous rice. (Skip if you chose the Lost Plate evening tour above.)

Three options to get there — pick by mood and traffic:

• Metro: Line 2 west to Hongqiao Rd, transfer to Line 17 to Zhujiajiao Station. ~75–90 min, cheapest.
• Didi / cab: ~1 hour, ~¥200 one-way. Faster door-to-door.
• Private car charter: via Klook or Trip.com — bookable in advance, useful if you also want a hands-off return.

Enter via the North Gate (TTI's recommendation) — saves you walking through tourist-trap stalls first.

1,700-year-old water town — Shanghai's "Venice." Town entry is free; individual attractions (gardens, temples) charge ¥10–40 each. Highlights:

• Fangsheng Bridge — 70m, five-arch stone bridge, the town's signature shot
• Canal boat ride — ¥60–120 per boat (negotiate), best photos from water level
• Kezhi Garden & Yuanjin Temple if you want depth beyond walking

Same options inbound — Line 17 → Line 2 back to People's Square, or Didi. Aim to be back by 14:30.

Metro Line 10 to Yu Garden station. Ming-dynasty scholar garden, zigzag bridge, koi ponds, Huxingting Tea House. Load entry confirmation into Alipay's mini-program in advance to skip the physical ticket line.

Beijing's top-tier Peking duck brand, their flagship Shanghai outpost. 45-day-old ducks roasted over jujube wood, each with an ID card you can trace. The Bund 5 setting is fine-dining tier — wine cellar, sommelier service, sweeping view across the Huangpu to Lujiazui.

Clear the room, leave bags with the concierge. Take Metro Line 2 west to Jing'an Temple station (~10 min).

Tang-origin Buddhist temple rebuilt with heavy-timber halls and a striking golden interior. Quick 45-min walk-through. Opens 07:30, so no wait at this hour.

Across the street from the temple at Jiuguang Department Store (West Nanjing Rd). Unitree's first offline Asia store, opened late May 2026 — live demos of the G1 humanoid and Go2 quadruped. Store opens 10:00, so it's just opening when you arrive. verify hours — new store, hours may shift.

Plenty of options around Jing'an (Réel Mall, Kerry Centre food halls) or head back toward People's Square. Long flight ahead — don't skip. Then Metro Line 2 back to the hotel for luggage.

Grab bags from the concierge, then Line 2 east toward Longyang Rd. If your hotel offers PVG luggage delivery (Cainiao), you can skip carrying bags entirely.

Cross-platform transfer at Longyang Rd from Metro to Maglev. 8-minute run to PVG.
